i love how transformative Indonesia is as a country. from one city to the next, the people and the culture and the landscape can differ so drastically, it’s almost like traversing between entirely different countries altogether. it’s a land that pulls on your heartstrings, makes you feel alive; an esoteric universe with such an easy assurance that people come here hoping to be turned into something new.
i’ve continued to loved Indonesia since i first explored its lands in 2017, and going through my photos again for this journal has only further exacerbated this weird nagging impulse to return – this time perhaps to some city or island new. I mean, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali make for impressive mains… but i can’t help wondering if the nooks and crannies of this nation of 17,000 islands might just have something else pretty stellar hidden away from the masses too.
but lest I digress, here’s a snippet of my short but remarkably beautiful time in Indonesia, a chaotic little wonder world filled to the brim with forty kinds of flavours and then some.

Hey! I spent 2 months in Indonesia just before the pandemic started and your photo’s really want to make me go back! If you’re looking for a more remote place but not too remote, Flores island is a good option! 🙂
